Library patrons and employees marked the end of the Duerson branch of the Oldham County Public Library as they marched the first book — a history of Oldham County — to the new main branch Nov. 29. The library at the corner of Ky. 146 and Ky. 53 has been in operation since 1945 when Mary Duerson willed the library to the city. It later became a county branch. Marti Hancock, pictured, worked at the branch for 11 years. Although the new library is nice, it is a little sad to leave the old one behind, she said. The Duerson branch is now closed. The main branch — off Yager Avenue and Parker Drive behind the Oldham 8 Theater — will open Jan. 12.
