LETTER: Only ‘heartache and trouble’ will follow liquor expansion

To the editor:

La Grange citizens, you MUST vote NO July 24 if you do not want our lovely city inundated with THREE, and maybe more in the future, package liquor stores. 

I do question why a “special election” is being held during the summer. (Could it be our elected officials are hoping that few people will vote since people are unaccustomed to voting in the summer and they are aware of how busy we are in the summer... children home from school, family vacations, sports, swimming lessons, etc.?) 

Let’s prove them wrong and show them how we feel about package liquor stores in La Grange. 

Only heartache and trouble will follow if we allow liquor stores in our city.

Judge David Voegele and executive director of tourism, Kim Buckler, have said it will help tourism. I am sorry that my tax dollars are paying their salaries if this is their idea of attracting tourists.
