To the editor:
In response to Tony Cotten’s story, “ENOUGH OF THE EIGHT – What’s best for kids?” in the April 21 edition...
Just a note to confirm how keenly accurate you were in assessing the feelings and mood of the 25 or so taxpaying residents subjected to yet another session of stone-walling and outright fabrications presented at what was supposed to pass for a town hall meeting with the Oldham County BOE.
As a citizen, voter, taxpayer, resident of proposed development area for over 20 years and a teacher for 38 years, I was totally frustrated and appalled at the complete arrogance and degree of condescension shown to the speakers at that meeting.
With the exception of the self deluded board members and their attorney, who has visions of her own grandeur, it was apparent to anyone in attendance that these officials are not only convinced that they are unaccountable to anyone including taxpayers, fiscal court and planning and zoning, but have the nerve to actually voice that stance.
Taxpayers had better wake up and pay attention because you will be expected to pay for bonds needed drastically improve the infrastructure changes to accommodate this campus, to say nothing of the benefit to the private developer who has retained building rights on a large part of the property.
This all fails the ”smell test” and where there’s smoke...
