Employees of Howell and Emery law firm found a surprise when they arrived Thursday morning.
The front door of their office at 105 S. Walnut St. in La Grange lay shattered on the front porch. A red brick rested in the debris.
"We aren't having the luck of the Irish today," Emery said.
The brick shattered the storm door and cracked a glass panel on the bright red wooden door behind it, which is "very, very old."
"It will be hard to replace," Emery said.
Jim McIntosh helped sweep the glass into a pail and used duct-tape on the cracked panel.
He estimated the red door is about 100 years old.
Emery said he has no idea who threw the brick.
"I have the potential to make people mad every day," he said.
