Last king standing: Student named chess champion

Tamm Omar, a student at Locust Grove Elementary, is the 2010 individual state chess champion for his division.

Oldham County board of education members recognized Omar during a school board meeting April 25.

Seven other Locust Grove students were recognized for winning top honors in the state K/1 chess tournament.

These students include Dylan Bayer, Sebastian Brown, Jacob Davis, Davis Hummer, Ethan Mutchler, Brendan Pineda and Nicholas Willey.
