Oldham County’s girls seemed on their way to a District title last February, leading South Oldham by 14 points in the fourth quarter of the district title game.
But the Lady Dragons came back and guard Abbey VanZant hit a buzzer-beater to take down OC, 46-44.
The Lady Colonels will have a chance for revenge at 6 p.m. Friday when the rivals meet in Crestwood.
The game will be broadcast live online at pegasussportsky.com.
“I think both teams have had this game on their minds since the season began,” South coach Christy Higdon said.
OC (3-6, 1-0 District 29) will lean heavily on its star, senior guard Ashley McMurtrey, who has averaged 23.1 points per game.
Meanwhile South (4-7, 0-0) will rely on senior center Emma Sedoris to challenge Lady Colonel post players Jenna Kirk and Abigail Stewart.
Kirk and Stewart average 8 and 7.6 rebounds per game, respectively.
“(Last year’s loss) has been our motivation and we’ve talked about it ever since last February,” Lady Colonel coach Jace Bryant said. “So we’re excited about getting this game started.”
