Few places are as romantic as Paris, especially Paris in the springtime. Skip the trip and check out the 2012 Shop Local Bridal Fair Saturday in La Grange.

Oldham County brides-to-be have a lot of local resources available, and Discover Downtown La Grange is bringing those resources to one place for the bridal fair.

Linda Goin, director of Discover Downtown La Grange, hopes the event will expose residents to “everything Oldham County has to offer its prospective brides and grooms.”

In its second year, this year’s event coordinator is Sherry Cook, owner of Blessed Winds Bridal and Floral. Cook’s company specializes in weddings and has a wedding consultant on-staff — and Blessed Winds picked up a Bride’s Choice Award this year from WeddingWire.com, a wedding planning website.

The Couture Closet Bridal Boutique in La Grange is another sponsor that will have a major presence at the fair. ABC-affiliate WHAS named The Couture Closet the best bridal shop in Kentuckiana during its annual contest in 2011.

Florists, caterers, travel agents, photographers and other vendors will be on hand — and all from Oldham County.

Representatives from rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception venues will be at the fair, including Soiree in La Grange and Creasy Mahan Nature Preserve.

In addition to numerous local vendors, attendees will also receive a directory with additional listings. The directory will include information about a variety of services, like financial planners, attorneys for pre-nup agreements and real estate.

From 11 a.m. to noon, dancers will showcase ballroom dance taught at Soiree, and a bridal show begins at noon.
