A Kentucky State Police trooper suffered minor injuries during a traffic stop Monday on Interstate 71 as a commercial truck side-swiped his cruiser.

According to police, KSP Trooper Rick Ellis stopped a motorist about 10:55 a.m. Monday near the 32 mile-marker on I-71 in Henry County.

As Ellis sat in his cruiser with emergency equipment activated, the driver of a southbound commercial truck allegedly failed to move to the fast lane and side-swiped Ellis’ cruiser.

Police cited the driver, Ala Hussin Alibrahimy of Dearborn, Mich., for reckless driving. EMS crews took Ellis to Baptist Hospital Northeast for medical treatment.

Police are still investigating the crash.
