CRESTWOOD – Invited by a Locust Grove Elementary teacher, Sean Nuernberger took one of his days home last week from college to participate in the school’s field day.

Nuernberger, a former Oldham County football kicker and likely Ohio State University’s starting kicker this fall, spent the day playing with kids, signing autographs and talking to them about playing college football.

“I remember back when I was in fifth grade doing field day and it was a huge deal to me back then so I know how big of a deal it is to these guys and girls too,” he said. “Coming out here, it’s really fun to see the kids compete and be a part of that.”

Nuernberger graduated from OC last fall and enrolled this spring to take part in spring practice. He’s back in Columbus, Ohio now, where he’ll spend the next two months taking classes and getting ready for fall camp, which begins in August.

Ohio State opens its season Aug. 30 in Baltimore against Navy.
