Kansas City releases Rauch

Former Oldham County standout Jon Rauch was released by the Kansas City Royals March 28, about two months after the pitcher signed a minor league deal with the club.

The Westport native pitched in six spring training games with Kansas City this spring.

Rauch was 1-0 with a with an ERA of 9.00, giving up six earned runs and nine hits and striking out four over six innings of work.

The 6-foot-11 right-hander has appeared in 556 games over his Major League career.

Rauch owns a 43-40 career record with a 3.90 ERA and 62 saves.
