Born June 10, 1911, Emma Laura Johnson has spent her entire life in Oldham County. She was raised on a farm off Jericho Road and was a domestic worker for local families.
As a member of the Crazy Eights Club, Emma Laura Johnson helped raised money for the La Grange Training School. This institution was part of the Rosenwald School Building Program, which promised to match funds raised by African American community members in order to build schools in the South.
