Accolades have continued to pour in for South Oldham grad and Transylvania baseball pitcher Braden Johnson.
Johnson was named the National College Baseball Writer’s Association’s NCAA D-III National Player of the Week last week.
Johnson, a freshman right-hander from Crestwood, earned the award by hurling a no-hitter March 30 in a 12-0 win against Defiance College.
The no-hitter was the first in the modern era of Transy baseball, per the school’s athletic department.
Johnson was named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s Pitcher of the Week earlier last week after the no-hitter.
Johnson, a four year letter-winner at South, is 3-2 this year for the Pioneers with a 3-2 record, a 3.31 ERA and 21 strikeouts.
