JET Team helps citizens prepare for disaster

-A A +A

At right, as part of FIRST Lego League’s challenge - Nature’s Fury, the Junior Engineers’ of Tomorrow (JET) Team educated about 1,100 attendees about disaster preparedness during Oldham County’s Safety and Halloween Festival on the evening of October 5 at the Oldham County Fairgrounds. Children could earn a piece of candy by telling JET Team what items they would put in their emergency kit. They could choose from items on the table such as a flashlight, peanut butter, radio, games, pet supplies, medicine, hand sanitizer, toilet paper and many other supplies. Parents were given information about disaster preparedness and encouraged to go to www.oldhamcountyky.govand sign up for Code Red - Oldham County’s emergency notification system. Code Red keeps citizens informed by calling home and cell phones, sending text messages or emails about emergency situations such as severe weather, boil water notices, and missing child reports.
