A routine traffic stop led police to more than $10,000 in merchandise stolen from various retail stores and a stolen 9mm pistol.
Oldham County Police stopped Derike Peterson, 39, of Dayton, Ohio, as he traveled southbound on I-71 Saturday.
According to police, officers found a stolen 9mm pistol stowed under the driver’s seat and about $10,000 in stolen merchandise in his vehicle.
Police arrested Peterson for speeding, operating on a suspended license, possession of an open alcoholic beverage, no insurance, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property (firearm), and receiving stolen property 10,000 dollars or more.
Police also arrested his passenger, Lisa Trammell of Dayton, on charges of possession of open alcohol container and receiving stolen property $10,000 or more.
Police took both suspects to the Oldham County Jail. No court date has been set.
