Hunter honored as July Artist of the Month at Gallery 104

Having a lifelong love for photography, Kathy Seelbach Hunter has continued in her grandfather’s footsteps as a photographer. Self-taught and having shot pictures since her teens, she began to seriously work at her passion and in 2007 started her own business as a freelance photographer, doing wedding and portrait photography as well as exhibiting in local and regional art fairs.

Having grown up around horses and being able to enjoy summers by the lake has evolved into the longest lasting and the continued influences depicted in her work. Taking pictures of these elements most inspire her spiritually as well as artistically. A love for shooting in natural light keeps her outdoors, trying to capture these subjects as poetry in motion and spirit, or as a splendor in nature.

“I try to capture some minute essence of attitude or passage in time that can be preserved in its own capsule for others to experience and be inspired by,” Hunter said.

As “Artist of the Month in July” at Gallery 104 in La Grange, the theme for Hunter’s show is called “Surf and Turf.”
