The hunt along I-71 is over

-A A +A
By Laura Hagan

Officials are halting hunters’ efforts to reduce the deer population along Interstate 71 in La Grange.

A group of hunters have been bow-hunting on land owned by the Oldham-La Grange Development Authority to decrease the number of deer making their way across the interstate. Deer are crossing the interstate from OLDA’s 1,000-acre property to reach a water source in the median of Interstate 71.

La Grange Mayor Elsie Carter said the city could be liable if an accident occurred on OLDA’s land behind Baptist Hospital Northeast, Wal-mart and The Rawlings Co.
