The Oldham County History Society recently received a $5,000 gift to help preserve records at the Oldham County History Center.
Plans are underway to renovate an unused area in the Chilton Barnett Archives and Library building on the museum campus.
The planned renovated area will help reorganize the collections and store rare documents in double fireproof vaults with powder dry sprinkler systems. The new plan will also allow for a larger storage area.
The $5,000 grant is a gift from the Robins Foundation and was awarded under the director-initiated grants program with the sponsorship from Dr. E. Bruce Heilman.
An Oldham County native, Heilman is currently chancellor at the University of Richmond.
