Four weeks ago, Barbara Hampton visited her doctor for a routine blood test. During the past decade, she has battled cancer three times, each time popping up in a different part of her abdomen – liver, pancreas. Each time, she thought she had it licked, but her recent blood test proved her wrong. The cancer is back, this time on her diaphragm. Hampton’s friend, Jacki Shafer, said Hampton is not the type to sit and dwell. Throughout her illnesses, she has always been one to help her own mother with her illness and to reach out to others.
