Wendell Moore and Briar Hill Parks may receive improvements, including trail extensions and playground resurfacing, from state grants this year. Oldham County Fiscal Court members approved an application for a $30,000 grant for playground surfacing in both parks and $60,000 for trail improvements at Wendell Moore Park. Money from a recreational trails grant would be used to purchase crushed limestone surfacing to make the 2/3 mile trail a full mile around the softball field in Wendell Moore Park. Both grants require the county to match 50 percent of the costs with labor services, which would be provided by volunteers. A grant for recycled crumb rubber will reduce the cost of materials for resurfacing two playgrounds.
