Benjamin Northrup of Goshen was presented a Congressional award last week by Congressman Thomas Massie.

It was the first award Massie has given, he said, and the first for the Northrup family.

Present at the ceremony was his father, Dave, mother, Angie, and sisters Chloe and Rebecca.

The Congressional Award is the U.S. Congress’ Award for young Americans. To achieve a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Congressional Award Certificate or Medal, each participant sets and achieves challenging goals in four areas: voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness and expedition/exploration. The award was established by Congress in 1979.

Benjamin earned his Congressional Award Bronze Medal by dedicating over 125 hours of Voluntary Public Service to his local community.
