North Oldham vs. Moore
Score: 56-13 North Oldham.
Where: North Oldham.
Key players: North Oldham’s Andrew Tuller, Jacob Manor, Chase Maddox and Jerret Link.
Game highlights: The Mustangs left little doubt in this one from the start as they put up 21 points each in the first and second quarters to lead 42-0 at the half.
NOHS used its running game to pound Moore into submission as the Mustangs rolled up 359 yards on the ground and controlled the clock.
Quarterback Chase Maddox was efficient through the air, completing seven of 10 passes for 116 yards including the game’s first score on a 14-yard hookup with Andrew Tuller. Maddox followed that with a one-yard dive for a score, then hit Brad Norris with a six-yard pass to close the first quarter scoring.
The running game took care of things in the second quarter as Tuller scored on a 53-yard reverse followed by scoring runs of 41 and 29 yards from Manor.
Oldham County vs. Waggener
Score: 58-13 Oldham County.
Where: Oldham County.
Key players: Oldham County’s Chad Dennis, Austin Middaugh, Adam Lange, Tyler Oldham, Tim Schain and Brandon Cook.
Game highlights: The Colonels scored on the first passing play from scrimmage when senior quarterback Chad Dennis hit tight end Adam Lange with a 12 yard strike over the middle and the rout was on.
Dennis, who was seven of 12 for 140 yards, followed that with three-yard scoring pass to Austin Middaugh, then hit Brandon Cook in stride on a 47 yard fly pattern down the right sideline as OCHS went up 21-0 at the close of the first quarter.
The Colonels rolled on in the second period behind scoring runs from Dy’Lan Underwood and Tyler Oldham and a 33-yard field goal from Tim Schain.
“We knew they were a little banged up with some injuries and they were young so we wanted to go at them hard right from the start of the game,” OCHS coach Matt Brown said. “We had more weapons to throw at them and just took advantage of it.”
Menard, Tuller help Centre to tourney
When: Nov. 10.
Where: Centre College.
What: Former Oldham County High School standout Erin Menard and North Oldham High School star Tamryn Tuller have helped the Centre College women’s soccer team gain a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament.
Menard is one of the Lady Colonels’ leaders on offense while Tuller anchors the defense.
Centre is 12-5-1 this season and finished second in its conference with a 7-2 record.
Menard was tied for second in the conference with 19 points and tied for first in goals scored with nine.
She recently became the fifth all-time leading scorer in Centre history with 59 career goals.
Thoroughbreds hosting Challenge Cup
When: Jan. 2 to 4.
Where: Oldham County YMCA indoor arena, Buckner.
What: The Oldham County Thoroughbreds soccer program is hosting its three-on-three Challenge Cup Jan. 2 to 4.
The cup is open to teams from ages Under-9 to adult. The cost is $150 per team and each team is guaranteed three games.
