FOOTBALL

North Oldham vs. Fort Knox

Score: 46-7 North Oldham.

When: Friday. 

Where: North Oldham High School. 

Key players: North Oldham’s Zach Price, Austin Peterson and John Askin. 

Game highlights: The Mustangs put up 21 first quarter points en route to the blowout win.

NOHS amassed 323 yards rushing with fullback Zach Price leading the way with 96 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Mustangs’ defense had another big day, limiting Ft. Knox to just 68 total yards.

NOHS opened the scoring early when Austin Crawley scored on a two-yard dive. The Mustangs followed that with a 19-yard scoring run from Price and made it 21-0 before the quarter ended when Austin Peterson hit John Askin with a 33-yard scoring pass.

The Mustangs made it 28-0 at the half when Crawley scored on a three-yard run.

In the third quarter, Price scored on a four-yard run followed by a two-yard score from Jerrett Link. Ft. Knox put its only score up in the third quarter when Frank  Richardson scored on a 57-yard run.

NOHS’ final score came when Kevin Yurt returned a punt 37 yards for a touchdown.

The Mustangs, 4-2, have the week off before hosting Henry County at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 in their district opener. 

South Oldham vs. Jeffersontown

Score: 34-0 Jeffersontown.

When: Friday. 

Where: Jeffersontown  High School. 

Key players: South Oldham’s Jake Nichter and Christian Wallace. Jeffersontown’s Demitrius Conley and Richard Kennedy. 

Game highlights: Rain and a sloppy playing field failed to slow down J-town’s speed advantage as the Chargers rolled over the Dragons 34-0 in a district game.

The Chargers rolled up 503 yards of total offense against SOHS and set the tone early when they scored on the game’s opening drive.

Tailback Demetrius Conley, who led J-town with 171 yards on 13 carries, capped a 77-yard scoring drive when he went off right tackle from the three  to put the Chargers up 7-0. Conley gave J-town a 14-0 halftime lead midway through the second quarter when he broke off a 55-yard touchdown run around left end.

J-town broke the game open with 13 points in the third period. The Chargers went to the air to open the second period when Joey Pierce hit Richard Kennedy with a swing pass and Kennedy broke through the SOHS secondary for an 80-yard scoring play.

DeMichael Jackson followed that with a three-yard burst off tackle for a score.

Kennedy added the final score in the fourth quarter when he scored on a 28-yard run.

SOHS, 1-4, will host Oldham County at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The game will be broadcast live on the internet on the Pegasus sports network. 

RECREATION

YMCA offering field hockey

When: Nov. 1. 

Where: Oldham County YMCA indoor sports arena, Buckner. 

What: The Oldham County YMCA is offering a winter field hockey league Nov. 1 to Dec. 20.

The league will have eight games and no games will be played Thanksgiving weekend.

The registration deadline is Oct. 23. All teams must have a minimum of eight players and no more than 16. 

There will be divisions for middle school, freshman, JV and varsity.

YMCA offering indoor lacrosse

When: Oct. 25. 

Where: Oldham County YMCA indoor sports arena, Buckner. 

What: The Oldham County YMCA is offering a winter lacrosse league Oct. 25 to Dec. 20.

The league will have eight games and no games will be played Thanksgiving weekend.

The registration deadline is Oct. 18. 

There will be divisions for middle school and high school boys and high school girls.

Thoroughbreds set challenge dates

When: Jan. 2. 

Where: Oldham County YMCA indoor sports arena, Buckner. 

What: The Oldham County Thoroughbreds select soccer club will host its three-on-three challenge tourney Jan. 2 to 3. Divisions are offered in Under-8 to Under-18 and there is an adult division this year for the first time.
