SOCCER

South Oldham vs. Eastern

Score: 4-0 South Oldham.

When: Monday. 

Where: South Oldham High School. 

Key players: South Oldham’s Marissa Williams, Meredith Miles, Shelby Thompson and Alexis Faller. 

Game highlights: The No. 7 ranked Lady Dragons began defense of their regional title with a an easy shutout win over Eastern.

Marissa Williams led the way with two goals while Alexis Faller and Shelby Thompson both scored.

Goalie Meredith Miles and the Lady Dragons’ defense kept Eastern at bay allowing SOHS a chance at a third-straight regional title. 

North Oldham vs. Ballard

Score: 2-1 North Oldham.

When: Monday. 

Where: South Oldham High School. 

Key players: North Oldham’s Devan Costelle and Megan Klyczek. 

Game highlights: The Lady Mustangs advanced to the regional finals behind goals from Devan Costelle and Megan Klyczek.

South Oldham vs. Kentucky Country Day

Score: 4-0 South Oldham.

When: Monday. 

Where: Ballard High School. 

Key players: South Oldham’s Will Vitalis, John Cantrell and Jason Pitts. 

Game highlights: SOHS’ Will Vitalis continued his hot streak in the post season scoring twice to lead the No. 22 Dragons into the regional finals with the easy win over Kentucky Country Day.

The Dragons also got goals from John Cantrell and Jason Pitts.

Oldham County vs. Ballard

Score: 3-2 Ballard.

When: Monday. 

Where: Ballard High School. 

Key players: Oldham County’s Chase Bryant and Dallas Moore. Ballard’s Trever Bruner. 

Game highlights: Ballard’s Trever Bruner pulled a hat trick scoring all three of his team’s goals to lead the Bruins into the regional finals.

OCHS stayed close behind goals from Chase Bryant and Dallas Moore. The OCHS loss snaps a run of seven straight regional titles for the Colonels.

South Oldham vs. North Oldham

Score: 1-0 South Oldham.

When: Oct. 14. 

Where: North Oldham High School. 

Key players: South Oldham’s Meredith Miles, Alexis Faller and Shelby Thompson. North Oldham’s Megan Klyczek. 

Game highlights: The No. 7 ranked Lady Dragons avenged a 2-0 regular season loss to North Oldham with this shootout win in the district finals.

The game ended in a tie after regulation and 30 minutes of overtime play leading to the shootout.

SOHS went on to win after Shelby Thompson and Alexis Faller hit their kicks and goalie Meredith Miles blocked a shot in the shootout.

South Oldham vs. Oldham County

Score: 4-2 South Oldham.

When: Oct. 14. 

Where: South Oldham High School. 

Key players: South Oldham’s Will Vitalis. Oldham County’s Dallas Moore and Chase Bryant. 

Game highlights: SOHS’ Will Vitalis scored all four goals for the Dragons as they beat OCHS to win the district title.

SOHS’ win snapped a seven-year streak for OCHS winning the district.

The No. 22 Dragons, 13-4-2, led early behind Vitalis’ scoring and never trailed. Chase Bryant and Dallas Moore scored for the Colonels.

North Oldham vs. Shelby County

Score: 3-1 North Oldham.

When: Oct. 13. 

Where: North Oldham High School. 

Key players: North Oldham’s Jordan Major, Adrienne Bishop and Devan Costelle. Shelby County’s Alex Patterson. 

Game highlights: The Lady Mustangs dominated the game after Shelby County managed to tie it at one all. NOHS’ Adrienne Bishop and Devan Costelle put in the game-winning goals after Jordan Major scored first for NOHS.

Oldham County vs. Shelby County

Score: 2-1 Oldham County.

When: Oct. 13. 

Where: South Oldham High School. 

Key players: Oldham County’s Bobby Atkin and Evan Gallagher. Shelby County’s Brandon Shuck. 

Game highlights: OCHS’ Bobby Atkin was in the right spot at the right time, scoring with 2:23 left in the first overtime period to help the Colonels beat the Rockets. Atkin scored off a deflected shot on goal to give the Colonels the edge. OCHS was able to hold the Rockets scoreless in the final 10-minute overtime behind solid play from sophomore goalie Evan Gallagher.

FOOTBALL

Oldham County vs. Grant County

Score: 7-0 Oldham County.

When: Friday. 

Where: Grant County High School. 

Key players: Oldham County’s Chase Hamby and Antonio Brown-Campbell. 

Game highlights:  Colonels’ quarterback Chase Hamby scored on an eight-yard sweep around the left end in overtime to give the Colonels the district win.

The Colonels struggled against the Braves and very poor field conditions all night long before managing to score in overtime.

OCHS’ defense shut Grant County down in the overtime after a face masking  penalty on first down put the Braves on the five.

The Colonels lost a pair of scores to during regulation. Both were Hamby to Antonio Brown-Campbell passes. Brown-Campbell was ruled out of bounds on one and Hamby past the line of scrimmage when he threw the ball on the other.

The Colonels will host Anderson County at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the district championship game. 

South Oldham vs. Anderson County

Score: 29-19 Anderson County.

When: Friday. 

Where: Anderson County High School. 

Key players: South Oldham’s Christian Wallace and Jerrod Good. Anderson County’s Jacob Russell, Grant Cox and Dustin Combs. 

Game highlights: The Dragons came close to knocking the No. 6 ranked Bearcats from the ranks of the state’s unbeaten teams, holding a lead until the third quarter.

Anderson quarterback Jacob Russell scored on a one-yard sneak with 7:48 left to seal the win for the Bearcats.

SOHS’ last lead came at the 4:59 mark of the third quarter when quarterback Christian Wallace scored on a keeper to put the Dragons up 19-15. Anderson grabbed the lead back on its first play from scrimmage when Russell hit Grant Cox with a 46-yard scoring pass. The Dragons managed a 12-7 lead early in the game when Wallace scored on a 65-yard run off a fake punt and a 65-yard interception return for a score from Jerrod Good.

SOHS has a bye week this Friday before closing the season at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at Owen County.

FOOTBALL

OCHS hosting hoop madness

When: Nov. 13. 

Where: Oldham County High School. 

What: The Oldham County boys’ and girls basketball teams are hosing Hoop Madness at 5 p.m. Nov. 13 to showcase the OCHS, Oldham County Middle School and East Oldham Middle School teams. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students.

6 p.m. - EOMS girls

6:20 p.m. - OCHS dance team performs
