Game highlights: North Oldham picked up one its biggest wins of the year with this upset of Owen County. The Lady Mustangs got off to a slow start, scoring just two points in the first quarter before fighting their way back into the game to trail just 16-12 at the half. With Emily Crutcher and Holly Overcash each scoring 17 points, the Lady Mustangs cut the lead to one by the end of the third period and then inched ahead to get the win and go to 6-7 on the year. Crutcher scored all 17 of her points in the second half and was six of eight from the line in the final minutes of the game. Game highlights: In a game of runs, Simon Kenton’s balance and superior guard play carried the day as the Lady Pioneers built an eight-point halftime lead and expanded on it in the second half with a quick 9-0 scoring run to open the third quarter. Guard Chelsea Tolliver hit for 18 points and was 16 of 20 from the foul line. Game highlights: Fresh off an overtime win over Oldham County, North Oldham had the tables turned on them at Owen County as the Rebels dominated the second half and came back from a 13-point halftime deficit to win in overtime. The Rebels’ balance came into play as they cut in the lead in the third period, then took over to tie the game in fourth quarter behind the scoring of Collin Gamble, Michael Colligan and Clinton Hamilton. Gamble led the Rebels with 18 points while Colligan had 13 and Hamilton 12. Game highlights: In a rematch of last year’s regional championship game, Simon Kenton’s guards and foul shooting carried the day.Thanks to the play of guard trio Zach Layne Nate Ponzer and Jeff Slavey, the Pioneers bolted out to an 11-point lead in the first half before the Colonels fought their way back into in the second half behind the scoring of Billie Payne.Payne led all scorers with 25 points. The Pioneers, however, hit their free throws when they counted including two from Layne that were the final margin. Game highlights: The Dragons, who lost to Shelby by more than 20 points in a December game, hung in with the Rockets this time.Shelby managed to pull away in the final period thanks to the inside work of 6-foot-4 forward Coty Minnis.Minnis, ranked No. 3 in a preseason vote for player of the year by the coaches and an all-reegion pick last season, led all scorers with 25 points.Minnis was complemented from the outside by guard Tim Sanford’s 14 points.
