The closing of a prison in Frankfort last week inspired a union leader from Eddyville to picket outside the walls of the Kentucky State Reformatory on Thursday.
Larry Bland, who works as a correctional officer in the segregation unit of the Eddyville prison, said he knew he was going to picket outside the La Grange prison as soon as he heard about the closing of the Frankfort Career Development Center.
“I got off work at 1:30 in the morning, and drove straight here to this very spot,” he said.
