The brown waters of the Ohio River crested 26.02 feet at the upper gauge of the McAlpine Locks and Dam Friday – about 3 feet above flood stage. Homes flooded along the Ohio River, including those along Riverside Drive in the Harmony Village and Oldham Acres subdivisions. Homes in those subdivisions were trapped between the rising river and the backed-up tributary Huckleberry Creek. Belknap Beach was also flooded. Some residents remained unbothered. They just packed up everything on the bottom level and waited it out.
