Fiscal Court Briefs

Oldham County Fiscal Court approved two new board members during their meeting on Sept. 3.

Judge-Executive David Voegele appointed Samuel Finney to the County Planning and Zoning Commission Board with a term to expire in September of 2017.

Finney comes in at a crucial time with the fate of the comprehensive plan in question and a future zoning overhaul for the county on the horizon.

Voegele also added Sallie Haynes to the Oldham County Library Board with a term to expire in October of 2017.

The Oldham County Fiscal Court sponsored a very successful free community shredding event this past Saturday at the Oldham County Fairgrounds.  It was the highest turnout since the event began this event in 2008.  200 vehicles were served and 13,280 lbs or 6.64 tons of sensitive documents were shredded.  The amount of material shredded was about two and one-half times that of any previous year.  This material will be baled and shipped to Kimberly-Clark for recycling purposes.

This event would not have been possible without the generosity of The Paper Predator, a shredding company from neighboring Shelbyville, Kentucky who graciously agreed to provide her labor and equipment for our three-hour event at no cost to the County.
