With acts ranging from folk music to martial arts demonstrations, the Crestwood Festival’s entertainment is guaranteed not to disappoint.
Phifer Stephens with Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home and Cremation Services has coordinated gospel-themed entertainment for Friday, Sept. 9.
Four gospel groups, Covington Ridge, Fishers of Men Gospel Quartet, Johnny McRoberts & the Gospel Truth as well as Steve McRoberts & Upward Grass are scheduled to perform.
The four members of Covington Ridge have been singing together for several years and enjoy traditional gospel tunes.
The Fishers of Men have recorded five albums. Member Sanford Hill said they have been signing familiar old-hymns in their upbeat style for more than a decade.
John McRoberts has been playing music for more than 60 years, the last 40 of those years gospel. John and his friends are an ever changing group that entertain whenever and wherever they are invited to do so.
The play for the joy of doing so and as a way of promoting the Gospel through music.
Steve McRoberts & Upward Grassis a Bluegrass Gospel group that has been together for about five years. The group is well-known at churches and community events.
Saturday’s lineup includes the Ladies for Liberty with a special salute to veterans, country artist J.D. Shelburne and a brass band among others.
Finalists from the 2011 Oldham Icon program, sponsored by the Oldham County Chamber and Economic Development Office, will also entertain.
Oldham County Singers, a local group that has performed across the county, will be singing patriotic music at lunchtime.
Six Guns Entertainment, a western reenactment group, will be portraying the American West in the late 19th Century at The Maples. The group is known for recreating shootouts and scenes from iconic western movies.
Just in case none of this entertainment piques your interest, a Zumba demonstration, Tae Kwon Do, bluegrass band and jazz band will also fill in the afternoon.
