Sport: Cross Country
School: North Oldham
Claim to fame: Finished in second overall in Cincinnati St. X run and set a school record with a 19:20 finish time.
“Bernard Legat. Some people only run during their high school years but even if I don’t run for college, I still want to run no matter what. He’s been running against top athletes for like 14 years and is proving that he can do it.”
WHY CROSS COUNTRY?
“I started when I was in the second grade, so just the fact that there were no cuts, anyone can do it. It’s just running so you don’t have to learn a whole lot. And my friends were doing it.”
WHAT ABOUT IT DO YOU LOVE?
“I like just exerting yourself, just going out there and going as hard as you can. I like feeling like I’ve worked really hard and am tired.”
HOW HAS IT BEEN AS A FRESHMAN, GETTING TO BE A PART OF A PROGRAM LIKE NORTH OLDHAM?
“It makes me feel way more important than in middle school. You feel like you’re part of something bigger than just going out and running for fun. There is way more bonding, like we went to Dale Hollow Lake this summer and had overnighter in Cincinnati.”
