BUCKNER – After a perfect preliminary round, Matt Fairfield didn't quite have the day he expected in the Dr. Pepper Tuition Throw at the Southeastern Conference championship football game Saturday.
Fairfield, an Oldham County High School senior, came in second in the throw losing to a female student 7-5 competing to attend Belmont University.
Contestants had 30 seconds to throw 10 footballs through a two-foot diameter hole from the five-yard line for a chance to win a $100,000 scholarship to attend the college of their choice.
