Kopper graduates from Baldwin-Wallace
Emily Kopper of Prospect recently graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, earning a bachelor of science degree. Roberts, Newman awarded Robert C. Byrd honors scholarship Paxton Roberts, a 2010 graduate of Oldham County High School and Kathleen Newman, a 2010 graduate of North Oldham High School, have each been awarded a Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship valued at $1,500 a year. Roberts will attend the University of Kentucky to study economics and management. While at OCHS, Roberts was a member of the tennis, math and academic teams, French Club, National Honor Society and Beta Club. She is the daughter of Jerry and Cathy Roberts of La Grange. She is the granddaughter of Sue Walker of Henderson and Nell Barrentine of Owensboro. While at NOHS, Newman was a member of the speech team, choir, Beta Club, theater and Mustang Mentors. Roberts and Newman are two of 84 seniors in the state to receive the scholarship. McGinnis recognized as student of excellence Brittney McGinnis of Crestwood was recently recognized by the United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in science. McGinnis, a student at East Oldham Middle School was nominated for the honor by EOMS science teacher Michelle Welter. She will appear in the U.S. Achievement Academy’s Official Yearbook produced nationally. She is the daughter of Michelle and David McGinnis. Grandparents are David and Dreama of Eunice, W.Va. Johnson recognized as top scholar The National Society of High School Scholars recently announced that Kevin Johnson of La Grange was selected for membership. Johnson, a student at Highlands Latin School was recognized as a top scholar. NSHSS invites students who have achieved academic excellence. He was also selected for the Governor’s Scholars Program. He is the son of Scott and Kim Johnson of La Grange.
