Local students named to dean’s list at Transylvania

Transylvania University senior Stefanie Brock, freshman Sarah Conn, senior Emily Owens, junior Kelly Spratte-Lennington and senior Allyson Tucker have been named to the dean’s list for the winter term.

To be named to the dean’s list, a student must achieve at least a 3.5 grade-point average during the term.

Brock, a biology and Spanish language and literature double major, is the daughter of Claude and Susan Brock of La Grange.

Conn is the daughter of Karen Conn of La Grange.

Owens, a psychology major, is the daughter of Robert and Caroline Owens of Crestwood.

Spratte-Lennington, a biology and psychology double major, is the daughter of Stephen and Kay Spratte-Lennington of Goshen.

Tucker, a sociology major, is the daughter of Cyrus and Marsha Tucker of Crestwood.

Goshen native named to Denison University dean’s list

Marc Sloboda of Goshen is among 317 undergraduates named to Denison University’s spring dean’s list.

Students who achieve dean’s list status have maintained a grade-point average of at least a 3.7 for the semester.

Sloboda is the son of Amy and Gary Sloboda of Goshen, and a graduate of North Oldham High School. He is a senior, majoring in English writing.

Fannin graduates from Morehead State

Victoria Fannin, of Crestwood, earned a bachelors degree in nursing from Morehead State University at the school’s spring commencement.

Henry named to Union University president’s list

Kieler Barron Henry of La Grange was named to Union University’s President’s list for the spring semester.The President’s List includes full-time students who achieve a 4.0 grade-point average.

Davis earns veterinary medicine degree from Auburn

Catherine Davis of Crestwood recently earned a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

She earned a biology degree in 2003 from the University of Louisville and is a 1988 graduate of Oldham County High School.

Her parents are Carl and Sandra Davis of Crestwood.

La Grange student receives award from Transylvania University

Sarah Harcourt of La Grange was recently honored during Transylvania University’s annual awards program.

Harcourt, a South Oldham High School graduate and senior at the university, received the Transylvania University Education Award, given for outstanding scholarship, service and classroom teaching.

She is an elementary education and religion double major, and is the daughter of John and Diane Harcourt of La Grange.

Jones qualifies for Merit Award

Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne announced that Alaina Jones, a North Old ham High School graduate, qualified for the IPFW Chancellor’s Merit Award.

Jones will attend IPFW this fall and will study interior design.
