Sherry throws five touchdowns in 41-0 blanking of Scott

COVINGTON— As soon as South Oldham took the field Friday night, the game was going its way.

Scott’s first two possessions ended in interceptions from seniors Jacob Lamb and Dillon Banks. The Dragons were able to score on both ensuing possessions with a 13 yard run from senior Marc Stephens and 1-yard  sneak from junior quarterback Jack Sherry to cap off the first quarter.

It didn’t stop there for South Oldham's domination, with two more touchdowns from the offense in another 1-yard sneak from Sherry and a Lamb 9-yard touchdown pass from Sherry.

The defense held Scott to zero points even with nine first downs in the first half.

“We went back to the basics," South Oldham coach Jamie Reed said. "We didn’t try to do anything real fancy and we ran one defense pretty much the entire night and we were able to do pretty good.”

The Onslaught continued in the third quarter when Sherry threw a 35 yard touchdown pass to junior Dallas Banks and another to Lamb for 37 yards to extend the lead to 41-0.

The Dragons were able to move the ball all night with the run with three different running backs rushing for over 65 yards and were able to open up the passing game for Sherry.

“We came out and executed tonight it really was a team effort and we came out on top.” senior running back Roger Johnson said.

South Oldham went into time management mode in the fourth quarter and was able to keep Scott off the score board.

The win helps solidify the third seed in the district for the Dragons. Only one regular season test remains, at 7;30 p.m. oct. 28 when they travel to Shelby County.
