A day to remember

Rain forced the annual Memorial Day ceremony on the courthouse lawn inside this year. During the event, local veterans were honored for their service in each of the branches of the armed forces. 

Flags lined the streets in La Grange during the Monday holiday.

American Legion Post No. 39 laid flags on veterans’ graves at Valley of Rest Cemetery on May 22.They placed a total of 510 flags – 496 flags on graves and 14 at the monument for the 14 veterans buried overseas. The monument lists those soldiers’ names.
