A 17-year-old Crestwood male is charged with the alleged rape of a 16-year-old female in Crestwood sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Police and court officials said they could not confirm the name of the male. He is charged with first-degree rape, a class B felony.

Police took the male into custody Sunday and transported him to a Kenton County juvenile detention center after the female called police to report the alleged rape.

The teen returned to Oldham County Monday for arraignment in district court, where he pleaded not guilty. His next scheduled court appearance is 9 a.m. May 9 with Judge Jerry Crosby presiding.

Police said the male returned to detention center Monday.

Oldham County Schools’ spokesperson Rebecca DeSensi said the 17-year-old male was enrolled at Oldham County High School at the time of the incident in question, however, he is now enrolled as a student in a school system near the detention center.

First-degree rape includes sexual intercourse with another person by forcible compulsion.
