Oldham County is reminding residents that a county-wide burn ban comes into effect May 1.
The ban refers mainly to burning of unwanted debris, which some residents may want to do as part of their spring cleaning routine, but prohibits all types of burning.
A message from the Kentucky Energy and Environmental Cabinet issued March 24 says open burning of debris is a health hazard for children, the elderly and those with existing ailments such as asthma.
