For Retired Teachers

Attention Oldham County Retired Teachers: On Oct. 22 at 1:30 p.m. at the John W. Black Community Center in Buckner, the Oldham County Retired Teachers Association will present a speaker from Kentucky Teachers Retirement System to discuss important changes in your insurance coverage for 2014. Call for Volunteers

Volunteers are needed for the annual Flags4Vets Veterans Day event on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville. Volunteers will be asked to place American flags on the graves of 7,000 veterans there. The event is free. Park at Breckinridge School, 1351 Payne Street. Flags will be passed out, then the group will enter the cemetery together at the U.S. Military section. The 670 graves of unknown soldiers from Kentucky will be honored also. Civic Club Meeting

The Crestwood Civic Club will meet on Friday, Oct. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at 7215 Kavanaugh Road in Crestwood. The Civic Club will be hosting their annual auction to raise funds for their scholarship and outreach/community programs.  Members are encouraged to bring a guest. For information, call 222-7908.


Corn Island Storytelling Fest

The International Order of E.A.R.S  present the Corn Island Storytelling Fest Oct. 11 at the University of Louisville Humanities Quad.

The event is free and open to the public. Kids activities will be from 5 to 7 p.m. and storytelling from 7 to 10 p.m.

Wellness Series

The Oldham County Health Department will host another session of the New Definitions of Wellness Series with Dr. Carl Paige of Paige Primary Care Center at the Oldham County Health Department, 1786 Commerce Parkway, La Grange, on Tuesday, October 15th , 6:30 p.m. The topic of discussion will be Brain Fitness: ADHD, depression, dementia, cognitive disorders.

Holiday Showcase

Louisville Artisans Guild will host the Holiday Showcase - 2013 - A Juried Arts & Crafts Show on November 2 and 3 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. each day at the American Legion Highland Post, 2919 Bardstown Road in Louisville. Free admission and parking.
