DDL Volunteers

Discover Downtown La Grange is looking for volunteers to man the new Visitor Center at City Place, beginning mid-September. The center will be open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. DDL is interested in any hours or days. Background checks will be required. Call to artists

This is a Call to Artists for the fall Harvest Moon Show, Sept. 23 – Nov.1 at Gallery 104, La Grange. Entry deadline: Friday, Sept. 12 (midnight)

Produced by the Arts Association of Oldham County, the Harvest Moon Show is a juried multimedia show, open to all artists and featuring autum farm scenes, still life and moon scapes.

Derby Festival

seeking royalty

The Kentucky Derby Festival has begun its search for members of the 2015 Royal Court. The application process opens online at www.kdf.org. Young women from Kentucky or Southern Indiana who are full-time college students are eligible. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 10. The program is not a beauty pageant. Each member of the Royal Court receives two $1,000 scholarships – one from The Fillies, Inc., and one from the Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation. In addition to other sponsor gifts, each woman also receives a complimentary wardrobe.

Applicants must be single, female residents of Kentucky and full-time college students, with a minimum accumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Candidates must also be poised, outstanding in the community and 18 years old on or before Dec. 31, 2014. Contact Julie Dorsey at (502) 489-7111.
