Boot camp

Oldham County Crunch will be hosting a fitness bootcamp on Saturday mornings starting on April 26 from 9-10 a.m. Classes will be open to all people of all ages and fitness levels. Cost is $10 for those 18 and older, $5 for 17-11 and free for children 10 and under. Minor children will be required to workout under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Starting in May classes will also be offered on Tuesday evenings at 6-7 p.m. All classes will be held at the Walsh Park Pavilion. Classes are led by Michelle Benson, CPT, and Shannon LaDow, RN, CPT.

Meet the artist

The Arts Association of Oldham County and Gallery 104 presents Meet the Artist Night, Saturday, April 26, 5-8 p.m.

Meet the Artist Night has become La Grange’s Art on the Tracks - Studio Tour the 4th Saturday of each month through summer. We now have five art galleries/studios on NE Main Street. These include Utopia Studio, Gallery 104, The Art Gallery on Main, the Kinney Arts/Fire It Up Studio and the Campbell Studio. Other creative shops include Friends & Fiber, Inkwell Tattoo, Karen’s Bookbarn & La Grange Art & Crafts.

La Grange is also host to the Quads Classic Car Show along South & West Main Street. So come uptown for dinner at our fabulous restaurants, shop along historic Main Street, visit with our talented local artists and check out the cool cars.

Operation Parent

Keeping it Positive: Body Image & Self-esteem will be presented by Dr. Amy Greenamyer, Green Line Wellness, April 24 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Operation: PARENT, 1350 N. Hwy 393, La Grange.

This seminar will help parents become acquainted with current trends and misconceptions in body image, eating disorders and self-esteem among tweens and teens. The role of media, social media and family in the development of healthy vs. unhealthy body beliefs and behaviors will be explored. Finally, parents will learn about their role in prevention of problems in these areas and when to seek additional information and help.

Pastor Anniversary

Pleasant View Baptist Church will be celebrating its pastor’s 4th Anniversary on Sunday April 27. The 11 a.m. speaker will be Rev. Michael Rogers, Associate Minister, Main Street Baptist Church, New Castle. The 2:30 p.m. speaker will be the Rev. C H Duncan of First Baptist Church, Eminence along with his congregration. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m

Seedling giveaway

The Oldham County Conservation District’s annual tree seedling giveaway will take place on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (Or until all trees have been given away).

Oldham County residents can receive their seedlings by stopping by the OC History Center which is located at 106 N. 2nd Street in La Grange.

Available species will include Bald Cypress; Hazelnut; Pin Oak; Northern Red Oak; Yellow-Poplar; Eastern Redbud; River Birch; Flowering Dogwood; Sycamore and White Pine. Quantities are limited so stop by early for the best selection.

Ben Lyle from the Kentucky Division of Forestry will be on hand to answer all your tree questions and to advise you on the best location for the species of tree you choose. Also, be sure to pick up an informational sheet for each species.
