CRESTWOOD – It was not pretty, but it got the job done as the Oldham County High School Colonels beat Trimble County 57-39 Tuesday in the first round of the 29th District tournament.

The Colonels, 20-7, overcame several periods of sloppy play to stay in control for much of the game behind a game-high 17 points from senior guard Dylan Henderson.

“It was one of those games where no matter how much you tell them we have to be prepared it gets a little lackluster,” OCHS coach Jason Holland said. “At times we just didn’t play very smart, I thought we did play very hard through most of the game, just not very smart.”

The win advances the Colonels to the district final against the winner of the South Oldham vs. North Oldham game at 7:30 p.m. Friday at South Oldham.

The Colonels got a solid game from sophomore Sam Gruber who came off the bench to score nine points in the second half.

Justin Webb led the Raiders with 14 points.
