It came down to the two of their final wrestlers but Oldham County managed to knock off No. 11 Trinity High School 35-34 Jan. 12 for their second win in as many meets.
After picking up an early lead on a 7-3 John Shirkey decision and a pin by Connor Wilkerson, the Colonels grappled with Trinity for the next eight weight classes, trading the lead multiple times. That set up a heroic final push from the Colonels as a pin from Alex Meyers in the 220-pound class put them in position to steal the meet with a pin by Brady Emerson.
