Children’s camp explores Civil War in Oldham County

-A A +A

Ever wonder if Oldham County supported the North or the South during the Civil War? Did most residents uphold Kentucky’s decision to remain in the Union? In 1860, a year before the war began there were 4,815 whites, 37 free colored and 2,431 slaves in Oldham County. And every one of them had a story to tell. Children ages 7-12 will be able to take an in-depth look at how a war that split the nation also split the county and turned brother against brother right in their own backyard, through a new summer camp that explores the Civil War.
