Jessica Childers, a county jail employee for 19 years, has been selected by Judge-Executive David Voegele as Oldham County Employee of the Year. Voegele made the announcement during a recent awards ceremony at the John W. Black Community Center.
Childers, who began at the jail as guard, worked her way up through the years to her current position as administrative assistant to Jailer Mike Simpson.
“Jessica is a terrific role model for all employees,” said Voegele. “She has spent most of her career with the county out of the spotlight but can be counted on to always have her responsibilities completed and done correctly. Her experience and commitment to the job is invaluable and her dedication admirable.”
Childers is a member of FOP Lodge 62, the South Oldham Booster Club and Northeast Christian Church. She has helped organize numerous fund raisers and is active with the ‘Shop with a Cop’ program.
She is married to Scott Childers. They have two children, Jacob, 15, and Ashley, 11.
