Jacob’s Ladder preschool and surrounding businesses in Crestwood Station shopping center evacuated Monday afternoon after a man called the preschool and said, “There is a bomb in the building,” Oldham County Police public information officer Matt Cornell said.
Police and firefighters searched the building and roof and found nothing suspicious, allowing the preschool and surrounding businesses to resume that afternoon.
Jacob’s Ladder assistant director Alisa Ashby said the children – 6 weeks to 4 years old – reacted fine when she told them they got a phone call saying the building might be unsafe and the police needed to check it out.
“We made a game of it,” she said.
Cornell said calling a bomb threat to a school is first degree terroristic threatening, a class C felony.
