The anonymous donor of $100,000 to both the Oldham County Fiscal Court and City of La Grange is not anonymous anymore.

Through a press release earlier this week, La Grange Mayor Elsie Carter and Judge-Executive Duane Murner revealed the donor as George Rawlings, owner of The Rawlings Group.

Lawsuits have been filed with Oldham Circuit Court over the past few months by Magistrate Scott Davis and Oldham County resident Dewey Wotring, seeking the name of the anonymous donor. The two also filed requests for an opinion by the Kentucky Attorney General.

According to the release, Rawlings wanted to remain anonymous "believing that a true gift is made without condition." He also said he doesn't "seek glory for giving gifts, my faith tells me that it is wrong."

The Rawlings Group moved from Louisville to La Grange more than a year ago, and since that time, Rawling said he has received "nothing but helpful assistance." Because of his appreciation for the help in transitioning to the new location, he said he wanted to give something back to the residents.

He said that he is sure the donations will be used appropriately for the benefit of the residents of the city and county and thanked everyone for being so welcoming to his company and his family.

In the release, Carter and Murner both express their thanks for Rawlings generosity and "our good fortune in having The Rawlings Group and George Rawlings as residents."
