School officials canceled classes Friday in advance of a snowstorm that dropped about a foot of snow on the area, bringing the tally of snow days for Oldham County Schools to six for the 2007-08 school year. But due to extra days built into the schedule, students will only make up three days if the current plan is approved at the next Oldham County Board of Education meeting. The Oldham County Board of Education will vote at the March 24 meeting at South Oldham Middle School about what days to make up, Communications Director Rebecca DeSensi said. The recommendation for students’ last day is June 5, except for Oldham County High School and Oldham County Middle School students. OCHS and OCMS will likely go to school June 6 as a result of a September power outage that prompted officials to cancel classes. Students’ last day was originally scheduled June 2. Students will not make up for Feb. 21 when school was dismissed early, because the school district can use five emergency hours without having to make up, Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Support Services Rick McHargue said. The board will also determine graduation dates at the March 24 meeting.
