Cross Country: Taylor Adams

School: North Oldham Middle School.

Age: 12.

History: Adams is one of the leaders of a strong North Oldham cross country team that is expected to challenge for the state title in a few weeks in Lexington. Adams was first in the Williamstown Invitational Saturday leading the Lady Mustangs to the team title as well. Her older sister, Shelby, was third in the meet.

Adams also took first place in the South Oldham State Tune-up meet and was first in the Franklin County Invitational.

Adams was second in the North Oldham Rumble In the Jungle meet and was fourth in the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational which drew top runners from four states. NOMS won the team title at the Trinity/Valkyrie meet.

“A lot of years we really haven’t had that great a chance to win state, but out of the years I have been running I really thing this is our best chance.”

Adams started running in the second grade for the Goshen Elementary program simply because “I pretty much liked to copy everything my older sister did, I really didn’t know what I was signing up for.”

She has also played basketball and volleyball and is a distance runner for the NOMS track team.

Favorite subject: Science.

Favorite thing about cross country: “I really just like the joy of running,” Adams said. “Some people think it’s just tiring, but I like to pace myself. You can learn a lot of things from cross country.”
