 Name: Rebecca Wishnevski.

School: East Oldham Middle School. Sport: Softball.  Age: 14. Hometown: Crestwood. Accomplishments: Wishnevski is one of several stellar young players entering the Oldham County Lady Colonels softball program this spring. A catcher and solid hitter, she is expected to be a regular on the Lady Colonels’ JV team this spring and could move into some varsity time by the end of the season. She is a product of the Oldham County Outrage AAU select program that has won a state title and competed in the world series in Florida. ‘She’s an outstanding catcher who understands the game really well,” OCHS and Outrage coach Steve Leanhart said. “Plus she is just a great kid to have around. She’s a positive influence on everyone.” School: A straight-A student in EOMS’ gifted and talented program, Wishnevski said language arts is her favorite subject.  Other activities: Wishnevski is also a standout basketball player for the East Oldham Lady Patriots. A forward, she moved on to play for the OCHS JV team at the completion of the EOMS season and said she will play both sports in high school. “Softball is my favorite sport right now, but basketball is catching up,”” Wishnevski said. “I had a lot of fun playing for the JV team this year and learned a lot.” She has also run track as a sprinter for the EOMS track team. A big University of Louisville fan, she said Cardinals’ forward Terrance Williams is her favorite player. Wishnevski likes to hang out with friends and listen to music. She said Coldplay is her favorite band.
