Name: Natalie Cranfill.
School: Oldham County Middle School.
Position: Utility/defensive specialist.
Hometown: La Grange.
Accomplishments: Cranfill has emerged as a key player for the OCMS volleyball team this fall as a utility player who plays nearly every position on the court. She recently helped the team to the title of the OCMS varsity tournament for the third year in a row as the Lady Colonels prep for the conference tourney.
“We’re doing pretty well,” Cranfill said. “If we play together in the tournament we can beat anybody.”
A three-year member of the Lady Colonels, Cranfill picked up the sport from her older sister, Rachel, a standout member of the Oldham County High School team.
“My sister got me started and used to practice with me all the time in the yard,” Cranfill said. “I just really liked it and decided it was what I wanted to play.”
Cranfill plays volleyball year round with her club team at KIVA where she is a defensive specialist.
School: Cranfill is a straight-A student.
She said science and math are her favorite subjects.
She is a member of the Beta Club at OCMS.
Other activities: Cranfill is a member of the OCMS band and plays the trumpet.
She started playing with the band in the sixth grade after a tryout at La Grange Elementary.
“I just tried (the trumpet) out one day in elementary school and it was a lot of fun,” Cranfill said.
