Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization that provides fresh and frozen food items sold at about half the price to help people with their grocery bills.
Anyone of any income level can buy the food. The $30 May box includes: •2.5 pounds lean chopped beef steaks (five 8-ounce); •5 pounds leg quarters; •2 pounds chicken and cornbread stuffing casserole (ready to cook); •28-ounce salisbury steak dinner entrée; •1 pound boneless pork chops (four 4-ounce); •six corn dogs; •12-ounce deli-sliced ham; •5-ounce chunk light tuna in water; •32-ounce french fries; •1 pound sweet corn; •15-ounce Musselman’s applesauce; •15-ounce pears; •8-ounce dinner roll mix (makes eight); •7.5-ounce macaroni and cheese; •32-ounce 2 percent shelf-stable milk; •dozen eggs; and •dessert. Several other boxes are available for $21 to $35, including a senior box, fish and shrimp seafood box, allergen-free box and six specials. Orders are due May 17. Food stamps, cash and money orders are accepted. Orders are accepted 5:30 to 8 p.m. May 13, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 16 and noon to 2 p.m. May 17 at La Grange Presbyterian Church. Orders are also accepted 6 to 8 p.m. May 14 and 15 in Bedford at New Life Community Church, as well as from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday and Wednesday at New Castle Christian Church.
